Hi, I’m Elena Navarro, and I’m so glad you’re here.
Biz Woven exists for one simple reason: money feels complicated until someone explains it like a human. If you’ve ever stared at a cash flow statement, a retirement projection, or a scary tax estimate and thought, Surely I’m the only one who doesn’t get this, you’re in the right place.

I’m a former business strategy consultant and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional who has spent more than 15 years working at the intersection of business operations and personal wealth. I’ve helped organizations untangle messy processes and adopt smarter systems, and I’ve helped clients create investment plans designed to help them sleep at night. Biz Woven is where I bring those two worlds together.
Why I do this work
I grew up watching my parents run a mid-sized agricultural supply company in the Midwest. From the outside, it looked like a solid family business. On the inside, it was a constant balancing act: seasonal cash crunches, equipment loans, inventory decisions that could make or break a quarter, and tax planning that seemed to show up right when everyone was already exhausted.
That early window into real-life business finance shaped me. It taught me that money decisions are rarely just numbers on a page. They are stress, relationships, risk, pride, fear, and hope, all rolled into one.
It also taught me something encouraging: when you understand the mechanics, you can make better choices. Not perfect choices. Better ones. The kind that give you options.
From strategy to planning
I started my career on the business side, advising growing companies on fundamentals that don’t make headlines but absolutely determine whether a team scales smoothly or burns out. Think HR structures that don’t collapse at 30 employees, software rollouts that people actually use, and operational processes that stop the constant fire drills. Most of my work was with service-based businesses and founder-led teams navigating that messy middle between “scrappy” and “stable.”
Over time, I noticed a pattern. Even when a business was doing well, the founder’s personal finances were often fragile. Taxes weren’t planned. Retirement was “later.” Insurance was a guess. Cash was stuck in the business with no clear strategy for paying the owner, investing wisely, or preparing for a downturn.
So I pivoted into personal finance and became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. I wanted to help people connect business decisions to real outcomes, like buying back time, funding a child’s education, managing risk, or retiring with more steadiness and less low-grade anxiety.

What Biz Woven is
Biz Woven is built on one belief: the economy, your business, and your personal finances are deeply interconnected.
When interest rates move, your borrowing costs and new loan terms can change. When supply chains get tight, your margins can change. When tax rules shift, your take-home pay can change. When your household budget is strained, your risk tolerance changes. It’s all connected, and pretending it isn’t is how smart people end up feeling stuck.
Here, I translate complex business and financial trends into practical, actionable strategies. No shame. No gatekeeping. No jargon for the sake of sounding impressive.
What you can expect
If you stick around, you’ll find articles that are designed to be useful in real life, not just theoretically “correct.” I write the way I talk to clients and friends: straightforward, patient, and focused on decisions you can actually make.
- Business fundamentals: pricing, cash flow, hiring decisions, budgeting, operational efficiency, and how to choose systems that scale.
- Personal finance for real life: credit building, debt payoff strategies, emergency funds, and spending plans that don’t require perfection.
- Investing with context: from index funds to options and alternative investments, explained in plain language with risk front and center.
- Tax and planning conversations: how to think about quarterly estimates, deductions, retirement accounts, and the tradeoffs that matter.
- Economic shifts made understandable: what big-picture trends could mean for your business, your job security, and your long-term plan.
Most importantly, I try to answer the questions people are often embarrassed to ask, like: “Am I behind?” “Is this a terrible idea?” “What if I don’t have consistent income?” “How do I pay myself from my business?”
Who this is for
Biz Woven is for founders, self-employed folks, and W-2 professionals who want a clear plan and calmer money decisions, especially when income is variable or life is busy.
It is not for get-rich-quick promises, hot stock tips, or day trading hype. I’m here for sturdy plans and repeatable decision-making.
My approach
I’m analytical by nature, but I’m not interested in spreadsheets that look impressive and fail in real life. The best financial plan is the one you can follow on your hardest weeks, not just your best ones.
That’s why my approach is:
- Plainspoken: If a term matters, I’ll define it. If it doesn’t, I won’t force it into the conversation.
- Action-oriented: I focus on next steps, decision frameworks, and checklists that reduce overwhelm.
- Risk-aware: Whether it’s leverage, lifestyle inflation, or a too-optimistic forecast, we talk about what can go wrong and how to protect yourself.
- Human: Money is emotional. You’re not “bad with money.” You’re learning.

Welcome
If you’re building a business, building your credit, learning to invest, or trying to create a retirement that feels secure instead of scary, welcome. You don’t need to have everything figured out to start making progress.
My goal is to help you weave together the pieces: the business decisions, the personal finances, the long-term plan, and the everyday habits that make it all hold.
